Mark Venus will miss tomorrow's FA Cup match at Morecambe. Venus picked up an ankle injury and a bruise on the shin in training and looks certain to miss out. He was also missing from the squad announced yesterday as people with more eagle eyes than your correspondent spotted. |

Town skipper Matt Holland is a worry for tomorrow's clash with Derby County. Holland suffered an ankle injury in the Worthington Cup match with Coventry, but will make his usual huge effort to be fit, although there are no reports so far of any trips to the healing fountains of Brightlingsea. If he makes it the Derby game will see Matt make his 187th consecutive appearance for Town. |

Reports are coming in that Richard Wright may be a doubt for tomorrow's Worthington Cup clash with Coventry. Wright is suffering from a wrist injury and didn't train today and is rated as doubtful for tomorrow. |

As expected John McGreal is a huge doubt for tomorrow's clash with fellow promoted club Manchester City. McGreal damaged his thigh when colliding with a post when heading the ball from danger in the second half of Monday's live Sky game with Coventry. He is very unlikely to be fit as there his thigh is still painfully swollen and it looks likely that Titus Bramble will take his place. With Manu Thetis limping off with an injury in the reserves on Wednesday and Wanyne Brown also injured there could be a recall to the bench for player-coach Tony Mowbray. He has yet to appear this season, but he looks more likely to get a call if a centre-half is required on the bench than youngster Justin Miller. |

Town centre-half Wayne Brown may have to undergo a minor operation to rid him of his persistent hip/groin injury. The left-sided player has had a problem all season and even took a holiday to get some rest. This has not done the trick and he's off to see a specialist to have a scan in a fortnight. He had an injection last week to help settle the problem. |

Town’s run of excellent away form came to an end with a 2-1 loss at Newcastle. Town went ahead in the thirteenth minute through Marcus Stewart, but two controversial Alan Shearer goals won the day for the Geordies. |

Town look likely to rest a number of players when they meet Arsenal in the Worhtington Cup tomorrow. Mark Venus, James Scowcroft, Richard Naylor and Jim Magilton all missed training yesterday feeling the effects of Saturday's game with Middlesbrough. None seems to be in the 'injured' category exactly, however, George Burley has said he will not risk player in this competition. That means that Martijn Reuser, Titus Bramble and David Johnson and may all get starts against an Arsenal side likely to look very similar to the reserve side which beat the Town second string 3-0 two weeks ago. |

Town registered their second home League win of the season with a sometimes brilliant and occasionally frustrating performance. First half goals from Richard Naylor and Mark Venus put Town two-up with a deflected Dean Gordon freekick giving fans the usual nailbiting end to the game. |

Town have no real injury worries ahead of tomorrow's away clash with Bradford. Titus Bramble is now more fully recovered from his cold, but is likely to be on the bench as against West Ham. Mark Venus and John McGreal are expected to be the centre-halves. Jermaine Wright and Matt Holland had minor knocks from the Hammers game, but both will be OK for tomorrow. Wright's groin has settled down, while Holland's ankle problem has recovered. |
